Practice Makes Progress

None of us were born perfect. We were not born inherently perfect at the things we love to do. Maybe we were gifted with some talent, but with that talent comes the need to practice. Practice is how we get better. It’s how we come closer to that ideal of perfection, making strides each time we work on our goal. Practice doesn’t make perfect, and that’s ok. We should be chasing progress, not perfection. Progress will get us closer and closer to our goal each day we practice. Never get discouraged by failure. Keep going and marching along the pathway of progression and appreciate the journey along the way.

Clear Vision

“It’s alright to do things the way you want. There is no map to life, no blueprints to survival, you can create your world day by day if you have a clear vision and an unwillingness to give up.”

– John O’Callaghan

All-In

Don’t go through life hedging your bets, always holding out and hoping that something better will be around the corner. Don’t fret and be paralyzed by what you might be missing out on. Make the best choice that you have available to you and own the decision. Go all-in and make up your mind that whatever you do, you are going to make the best of it. Life “isn’t what it is”, it’s always what you make out of it, and we’re the ones who get to make that choice.

Never Let It Die

“Once cupid hit me with his burning arrow
He lit the lava in my churning marrow
So when I’m tested I remember I’ve been blessed
With that tender ember resting left of center in my chest
And yes, if you fuck with us you’ll see my game face
Cause no matter who you pray to when you say grace
And no matter where you come from in this great space
Every single person is escaping from the same place
So if you got a flame that’s blazing hot within
Take a deep breath and feed it oxygen”

– George Watsky – Never Let It Die

Mediocre

Life very rarely hands you anything. Things you want don’t come gift wrapped just waiting for you to open them. Most of the time it’s a struggle to create the opportunities for yourself to take advantage of. You’ll need to work hard day in and out to get even a chance to do the things you aspire to.

That’s why, when life sees fit to just up and hand you something, where it parks an opportunity right in front of you with the door wide open, hop in and take advantage without hesitation. If you don’t take the ride, eventually life will close the door and ride off without you. Capitalize on the chances that life gives you. Don’t overthink things and end up accepting mediocrity instead.
